Ian’s career has been defined by his relentless commitment to making a positive impact across communities. As a public sector advocate and award-winning social innovator, Ian has worked directly with over 700 municipalities across North America and as far away as Australia.
His latest initiative, You Make THE Difference, champions public sector professionals, advocating for their essential role in building stronger communities. Ian has already visited more than 170 municipalities ,in the last two years, to advance this important message.
Most recently, Ian set out to break his second world record—attempting to become the oldest man to play NCAA Division I college football. His effort aims to raise awareness about the growing suicide crisis impacting our communities. Last fall, he played as the starting long snapper for Antelope Valley College in Lancaster, California, demonstrating both purpose and perseverance through sport.
Ian is also the founder and volunteer CEO of the internationally acclaimed Let Them Be Kids initiative, which built 168 playgrounds, skate parks, and fitness parks across the US, Canada and Africa. The World Leisure Congress recognized it as one of the most innovative social programs in the world.
His dedication to community betterment has earned him numerous honors. Ian was named Humanitarian of the Year by the National Council for Community and Justiceand the Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission, and he received the Child Advocate of the Year Award from the Stand for Children Organization. Ian was also nominated for the Prime Minister’s of Canada Social Innovator of the Year Award.
From world records to public sector advocacy, Ian Hill continues to inspire communities and leaders to believe that meaningful change is always within reach
